Rodrigo Garcia Dutra (Rio de Janeiro, 1981) is a visual artist, researcher, and thinker who develops a multidimensional practice integrating painting, sculpture, writing, spiritual cosmologies, and artificial intelligence. With a strong international background, he holds an MFA from Central Saint Martins (2009) and an MA in Sculpture from the Royal College of Art (2014) in London, the latter completed with fundamental scholarship from Student Finance England. His career is distinguished by participation in exhibitions at world-renowned institutions, most notably “Open Cube” at White Cube (London), “Tomorrow: London” at the South London Gallery (London), and the influential “Histórias Mestiças” (Mestizo Stories) at the Tomie Ohtake Institute (São Paulo).
Awarded by the São Paulo Biennial Foundation through the Brazil Contemporary Art Program and nominated for three consecutive years for the PIPA Prize (2015, 2016, and 2017), Dutra has works included in prestigious public collections, such as the British Government Art Collection, the Assis Chateaubriand Museum of Art of São Paulo (MASP), the Rio Art Museum (MAR), and the National Museum of the Republic in Brasília. Recently, he was a resident artist at Air351 (Portugal) with a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, where he explored the relationship between contemporary architecture and artificial intelligence as a language. His research-based practice investigates how form travels through time and space, articulating ancestral knowledge and futuristic visions through what he describes as a “sensitive geometry”.

Sua prática investiga como a forma viaja no tempo e no espaço, articulando saberes ancestrais e visões de futuro através de uma “geometria sensitiva”.
